While preparing this article we used information databases, provided by the New Jewish School organization, reference materials, prepared by the St. Petersburg Institute of Jewish Studies and the data, collected during the sociology research. The comparative analysis of different sources of information allows us to make an attempt to create an integral picture with only a small percentage of faults.

We offered for your attention is the interview with the founders of a unique project - the theatrical laboratory "TaNaCh. Text. Staging. Play". The Laboratory is targeted at creating the Field of New Communications in Jewish art. The work of the Laboratory is an attempt to research and develop theatrical art in the light of sacred texts and developing tradition of the Jewish thought conceived by the city youth creative consciousness. This theatrical initiative appeared in 2002 in the Nikitskaya Jewish cultural center in Moscow. The uniqueness of this program is in using the sacred Jewish texts as the core of its creative activities. This is a collection of drama and plastic sketches based on the To-rah texts. We call our experience "Diaspora Symphony" because a raised in Diaspora young person in the moment of self-discovery on this kind of organized territory reveals in himself not only the properties of attracted to the text self-consciousness, but the energy sources of his life, real life in Diaspora as well. And they reflect upon the text, his behavior on the stage and his communications in the Laboratory.

Igor Zelzburg's article on the concept of tzedaka and its place in community marketing and effective management. Based on Bryansk Hesed experience. The word tzedaka has multiple meaning, but quite often it is used in the sense of charity. Is it the idea of the tithe important for today's community?
How many Jews are there in today's Russia? There is no consensus in the official data, nor among the experts. - Dmitri Vladimirov's article on Jewish demography, statistics and Jewish Identity in today's Russia based on the results of the latest census. Appropriate national policy could help diminish the number of emigrants from Russia. This policy should be a very strict law, punishing those who demonstrate nationalism and fascism. The decrease of emigration from Russia could help the Jewish community. Comments by experts Inna Ryvkina, Institute for Social and Economic Problems of the Population, RAS, Vladimir Shapiro, Center for Ethnosociology, Institute for Sociology, RAS
